SCHULZ, CHARLES. 1922-2000.
Pen and ink and gouache on stiff paper, 15¼ x 22⅝ inches, signed twice (Schulz), November 15th, 1959, being an eight-panel Sunday strip featuring Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Linus, mounted to board, pasted title label slightly toned, else fine.
An unusual and early example of a Sunday Peanuts strip set in the darkness of night that shows the characters grappling with a modern world of airplanes and Sputniks (Sputnik I was launched only two years before) as they contemplate the stars. The final panel shows Linus moving several yards away in order to gain a fresh perspective.
