A set of prop 'Ten Commandments' tablets from "The Ten Commandments"
Paramount, 1956. Constructed of fiberglass and other materials, these weighty tablets are painted a rust-color to resemble stone and have early Canaanite-style script engraved on the surface, spelling out these most famous rules. Seen in the climatic last scene when Charlton Heston [as Moses] comes down from Mount Sinai carrying the tablets, this particular set is one of six that were made for the film. The current owner purchased them from The Sands Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where they were once on display before the hotel was torn down. Included is a reprinted color image showing Heston holding a set of these tablets.
