"Dear Miss Emmet I am going to be very selfish, and tell you that Mr. Hazard and I do not feel that we can part with the portrait of the boys for that long period. This summer you see, it is the first summer that we and the boys have been in our house at Narragansett for three years and the picture means a lot to us all- in adding to the interest and charm of our house. And of course summer is the season when we have our friends and the boys friends with us. We both appreciate your wanting the "Gold Fish" and we both feel very guilty in saying no. I send you my best wishes and the sincere hopes that you will forgive me. Sincerely Helen HC Hazard January 26th
