Masks and helmets
A Somen
20th century
The russet iron mask well formed in one piece with the exception of the Tengu nose which is riveted on, embossed with bold wrinkles and eyebrows and omodaka leaves on each cheek. Two odayori no kugi beneath the chin. An earlier good quality yodarekake black lacquered hinged vertically and extended behind the neck, laced in blue sugake odoshi.
This is almost certainly the work of Ichiro Fukitake who died in 2002, although his usual one-character signature would appear to have been erased. 21.3cm (3/8in) long without yodarekake.
