A large cast-iron figure of Buddha
16th/17th century
Seated in dhayanasana on a double-lotus pedestal, the right hand stretched down holding a pearl and the left held in avakasha mudra supporting a lappet decorated vessel, the face with eyes downcast in a contemplative expression, flanked by the pendulous earlobes, with tight curls rising to the usnisa, the chest with a wan symbol, wearing monastic robes draped over the left shoulder and flowing onto the pedestal, incised at the hem with foliate scrolls (unsealed).
