An early Victorian carved oak Centre Table
in the manner of Richard Bridgens, in the Jabobethan taste
the rectangular lapetted top, (now lacking an inset marble) on pierced strapwork end supports and turned finials joined by a pierced shaped stretcher on lapetted platform bases and scrolled feet, together with a later rectangular top, 131cm wide, 70cm deep, 76cm high (51.5" wide, 27.5" deep, 29.5" high).

  • The above lot owes a debt to Richard Bridgen's design of 1838 which appeared in his Furniture with Candelabra and Interior Decoration but it more closely reflects W.Blackie's version of Bridgen's design which appeared in The Cabinet Maker's Assistant (1853).
