the central panel painted with two putti holding oars upon a galleon, a cherub flying above holding the mast in one hand, the wide border painted with a band of cherubs and dolphins in relief, in shades of red, blue, green, ochre and cream heightened with lustred glaze

  • This charger is one of a series designed by William De Morgan and painted by A.Farini, 1901 and fired at the Cantagalli factory in Florence. Three of the series are in the De Morgan Foundation Collection , two of which are illustrated in Martin Greenwooods The Designs of William De Morgan publ. by Richard Dennis and William E. Wiltshire III, 1989, Neptune pl.11 and Cheiron pl.12.
    A fourth the Apollo Charger, now in the Andrew Lloyd- Webber Collection is also illustrated in this book on pg.204.
