  • We are grateful to Rachel Dudouit, who is preparing a catalogue raisonné on the work of Duplessis, for informing us that the present portrait was exhbited at the Salon du Louvres in 1769 (No. 197) and a pen and ink drawing by Gabriel de Saint-Aubin after Duplessis is in the margin of a copy of the Salon's catalogue in the Bibliothèque nationale de Paris.
