With a wide trumpet mouth and resting on three bamboo-shaped supports alternating with three large figural panels painted in gilt and enamel on the curving sides, one depicting samurai warriors in a spring landscape, the next of courtiers and court ladies on a veranda, the last featuring the Chinese beauty Yang Gueifei with a multitude of attendants on a garden terrace, all framed by a cobalt blue ground scattered with gilt flowers and brocade panels, gilt fern fronds to the interior of the everted rim, the base with the four-character maker's mark.
