  • The present lot is an ivory reduction of the 1st century BC marble figure of Venus, now in the Uffizi, Florence. This marble was first recorded in the Villa Medici in 1638, and many sculptors, including Massimiliano Soldani Benzi (Italian, 1656-1740) reproduced this composition with their own minor variations and additions.
