A fine gold and enamel oval musical watch key,
Swiss, circa 1825,
the petit barillet movement with three-pillar spring housing, single stack of eight blued teeth and trés-mince plain brass bedplate, playing a single traditional air, in gold case with hoop-top winging stem, with bulbous waist flanked by opposing scrolls, the main oval body with a painted enamel study of four-point shield form of country dwellings and ruins with a pass between and vast snow-topped mountainous landscape beyond at dusk, tri-spray flower heads in mauve and pastel turquoise and petit-point tooled ground, further tooled border with cobalt blue enamel highlights, the other side with central painted enamel study of flowers on turquoise ground, delicate oval framed tooling of laurel-leaf swags and smaller flowering heads in enamels of red and dark green, the outer border with repeating arched frieze and twist finish with lime green enamel ground, the steel stem with repeating bulbous waist and opposing scrolls, start/stop slide to triple-rib moulded side - 2.1/8in. (5.2cm) high, 1.1/4in. (3.2cm) wide, the depth .3/8in. (1.cm) and the cylinder diameter .5/8in. (1.6cm)
