A late 19th century Austrian silver-gilt and enamelled nef,
maker's mark P L, possibly Ludwig Politzer, Vienna, circa 1890,
modelled as a single masted ship with enamelled pennants and sail, with a figure in the crows' nest, the sail painted with Pan by a altar, the reverse with Erato, the muse of lyric poetry, the poop deck covered by a canopy painted Cupid and mythical beasts, silver gilt armed sailors stand on the fo'c's'le, the enamelled hull painted with a lakeside scene of various godesses, including Diana the Huntress, Neptune, Leda and the Swan, Fortitude, Hebe, Mars and Ursula, raised on four silver gilt wagon wheels, height 27cm, length 22cm.
