Antoine Gailliard maítre on 19 September 1781. Gailliard was a prolific Parisian chairmaker who worked only in the Louis XVI style although he lived beyond 1815 and supplied furniture to the Garde Meuble during the post-Revolutionary period. Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p.333, describes his output as finely executed and of a superior standard.
