Lot Details
An Edwardian silver three-handled punch / rose bowl,
maker's mark Henry Hodson Plante, overstriking that of another probably Plante & Bannister, London 1906, with retail mark H. H. Plante 12 Bury St. S.W., also impressed pattern number 105,
with all-over spot-hammered surface, narrow vertical incurved flutes between the panelled sides, bifurcated flying scroll handles, on a spread circular foot, diameter 25.5cm, weight 59oz.

  • It can be assumed that Henry Hodson Plante overstruck the earlier firms mark when he continued the business alone.
    The maker's mark for firm Plante & Bannister was registered on 31st October 1906.
    The new maker's mark for Henry Hodson Plante was registered on 5th November 1908. Henry Hodson Plante continued alone after the partnerships with Plante and Bannister was dissolved on 5th March 1907.
    In 1915 Plante moved to 12 Bury Street, St. James's SW3.
