A fine and large bone Prisoner-of-War model of HMS 'Victory'
hull of pinned bone planks with baleen wales, painted port lids, carved polychrome figurehead of a Roman warrior, trailboards, stern and quarter galleries. Fine details include anchors, capstan, belfry and ship's boats suspended between the yards and across the transom. Fitted with pull cords with bone finials for operating the guns (not tested). Bone spars with accurate running and standing rigging, tissue flags. Mounted on mahogany crutches on a marquetry base, in a glazed display case. 32x10x24in(81x25x61cm)(model)
