A Jerry Garcia tooled leather guitar strap by Nudie's, worn on stage, 1973
Custom made for Garcia by the famed "Western tailor to the stars," Nudie Cohn; beautifully designed in black leather with seven red, orange, and white roses surrounded by rhinestones (some are missing) tooled to the surface; a narrow belt is affixed to strap and has same (though smaller) rose designs as well as a decorative sterling silver buckle with a hallmark reading "Nudie's / Rodeo Tailors / Inc. / Sterling;" back of strap has two additional stamps reading "Nudie's Rodeo Tailors / 5015 Lankershim Boulevard / North Hollywood, Calif 91601." (Please note there is evident wear as Garcia used this strap frequently.)

  • Garcia used this guitar strap at The Dead's February 19, 1973 concert at the International Amphitheatre in Chicago, Illinois. Included is a black and white image of Garcia from that night where this strap (mainly just its buckle part) can be seen.
