Nickel plated automatic movement with patented Super-balance, white dial with applied steel index markers, steel feuille hands, apertures for day-month and moon phase indicators, subsidiary seconds and central date indicator hand, circular case with chamfered bezel and shoulders on black strap with steel Rolex buckle, case, dial and movement signed
diameter 38mm.

  • During their history Rolex have only manufactured two versions of wristwatch with moon-phase calendar, the 8171 in a 38mm Precision case with snap-on-back; and the 6062 in a 34mm Oyster case with screw back. The 8171 was produced in limited numbers from 1949 to 1952 and is today one of the most desirable Rolex wristwatches availible.

    With fine original examples becoming increasingly rare to obtain, lot 100, in almost perfect original condition presents the collector with an opportunity to acquire one of the finest stainless steel Rolex 8171 watches to be offered at auction.
