A greenish-white jade lion-dog group
Late Ming Dynasty
Featuring a dog and pup at play, entangled in the long ribbons streaming from an embroidered ball, the curly tufts of fur in their manes and hides as well as the diaper pattern on the ball highlighted with delicately engraved lines and the surfaces polished to a soft sheen, the celadon matrix displaying some faint russet staining in natural fissure lines and retaining much of the contour of the original boulder as well as patches of its rich coppery brown skin.
16.5cm (6 1/2in) long.
