Lot Details
A Marilyn Monroe annotated phone book, circa 1960
Small in size with the front and back covers missing, many entries are pencilled in by Marilyn herself including those of Rupert Allen [her publicist], Monte [Clift], Dr. Engleberg [her internist], Mike Fayer, Aron Frosh [sic] [Aaron R. Frosch, her lawyer], Red Krohn [her gynecologist], Bernice M. Frankin, Ralph Roberts [her masseur], May Reis [her secretary], and Milton Rudin [her lawyer]. Some of Monroe's other brief annotations appear throughout the book (e.g., crossed out phone number changes, etc.) but the remainder of the entries are penned in other hands (likely May Reis and/or Inez Melson, MM's business associates) including names of Richard Avedon, George Cukor, Michael Chekhov, Ferragamo, Sidney Guilaroff, Dr. Marianne Kris, Dr. Erno Laszlo, Ann Landers, Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Miller, Pat Newcomb, Norman and Hedda Rosten, Jane Russell, Lee and Paula Strasberg, and Shelley Winters, among a few others. (Please note this book has water and coffee staining throughout, but all entries are still legible.)
