Signed and inscribed on the front free endpaper by Leonard Hussey, to his mother, Just before leaving for the South for the second time. Hussey accompanied Shackleton to the South Pole as a meteorologist and assisted with editing of the above title. Hussey also accompanied Shackleton on his final expedition, handling arrangements for Shackletons burial in South Georgia.
