Footnotes

  • During their history, Rolex have only manufactured two versions of wristwatches with moon phase calendar, the 8171 in a 38mm Precision case with snap-on back, and the 6062 in a 34mm Oyster case with screw back. The 8171 was produced in limited numbers from 1949 to 1952 and is today one of the most desirable Rolex wristwatches available.

The example offered here benefits from the original textured-finish matte white dial.

For an example of the Oyster cased version, Ref.6062, see lot 232.
