Though Campo del Cielo was first documented in 1576 by Spanish explorers (who endeavored to extract precious metals from the masses), it was not until 1962 that a comprehensive study of the locality was made. Originating from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, Campo del Cielo meteorites are formed of a polycrystalline, coarse octahedrite with a significant amount of silicate-graphite-troilite inclusions. This specimen displays well and exhibits the highly desirable surface texture (regmaglypts) characteristic of this locality. Offered on a custom stand.
