Large Amethyst Geode Pair
Minas Gerais, Brazil
Large, deep purple crystals of excellent quality distinguish a large, halved amethyst geode exhibiting a graceful cathedral shape. Geodes are formed in volcanic vugs (gas bubbles around which lava has hardened) which arose early in Earths history. Over the eons, mineral-laden water seeping into these voids produced the growth of the magnificent crystals for which this locality is famous.
