c.1919 ABC 123cc Skootamota
Registration no. EC 2834 (See below)
Engine no. 1470
Granville Bradshaws Skootamota was years ahead of its time, the product of the fertile, if not slightly quirky brain of this celebrated aircraft engineer who designed also the flat twin ABC motorcycle of the same era as well as oil-cooled engines fitted to both cars and motorcycles. The Skootamota is powered by a single-cylinder, 123cc overhead valve engine, mounted above the rear wheel and providing final drive by chain. Spark is provided by a CAV magneto and fuel via an AMAC carburettor. Braking is via band brakes front and rear. The step-through concept, so popular with the ladies, was decades ahead of the fashionable scooters of the 1950s and 1960s.
This machine appears to be to original specification in all major respects and worthy of the usual careful recommissioning following a long period of display in a private museum. Although it bears the registration number EC 2834 there are no documents with this machine, however careful research by the buyer may enable the original number to be recovered.
