Footnotes

  • Tommy Cooper (1921 - 1984) is one of Britain's best loved comedians. He made an art of getting magic tricks wrong and having his audiences in stitches as well as a master of gags and puns. Ever the perfectionist he would have costumes made for various characters he played in his television comedy series Coopers Half Hour, ready for the gag that he was working on. Part of his act was the memorable one-man plays that Cooper would perform playing a variety of characters often it would mean many hats and sometimes two halves of a jacket joined. One of these jackets is on offer here.
