Arabic manuscript on paper, 29 leaves, nine lines to the page, first, fifth and ninth lines written in elegant bold muhaqqaq script, remaining text written in smaller naskhi script in black ink, interlinear and intercolumnar rules in gold throughout, inner margins ruled in gold, sura headings written in thuluth in gold within illuminated panels in colours and gold, one illuminated headpiece in colours and gold, rather browned, some damage restricted to lower margins not affecting text, skilfully repaired, fancifully inscribed in gold katabahu Hamdullah al-ma'ruf bi-ibn al-Shaykh ('written by Hamdullah better known as ibn al-Shaykh'), modern brown morocco with panels incorporating 16th Century brown morocco covers with stamped central medallions, slight worming
