A very fine and rare mid 20th century French silver hump back cased petite sonnerie striking and repeating travelling clock with perpetual calendar, phases of the moon and up and down dial, in original travelling case

The hump back case surmounted by a gold push repeat button over heavy moulded edges to the front and rear on turned feet, the 4.5 inch signed silver dial with narrow Roman chapter ring with dot minute markers enclosing the finely engine turned centre with subsidiary seconds dial, gold Breguet style hands and aperture for age and phases of the moon set over an up and down dial, all set within a gilt engine turned mask with three rectangular apertures for day, date and month, the going barrel movement with substantial frosted gilt plates united by four heavy turned pillars with lever platform escapement striking and repeating the hours and quarters on a pair of coiled steel gongs, set to the rear with polished steel levers for full calendar setting. Contained in the original gilt-tooled morocco leather covered travelling case with folding handle over a hinged door with shaped aperture and twin catches at the side, the interior velvet lined and with recessed base to carry the original double-ended key, the case signed to the underside Breguet, 28, Place Vendome, Paris The clock 20.5cm (8in) high; the travelling case 26cm(10.25in) high.
