5 Typed Letters Signed (Winston S. Churchill), 5 pp, 4to and 8vo, various places including London, New York, Chicago, and Kent, November 14, 1924 to October 14, 1939, to Nicholas Murray Butler, on various official letterheads of the Admiralty, Treasury plus hotel letterheads, three with Columbia University received stamps, some toning and thumbing throughout. Present also are telegrams to and from Churchill, and carbon copies of Butlers correspondence.
Nicholas Murray Butler formed an early acquaintance with Winston Churchill, dating at least from the latters tenure as Secretary of the Exchequer, and carrying through to Butlers death in 1947. This series of correspondence includes thank-you notes from Churchill for the gift of books and responses to invitations.
