Two Bow figures of cooks
circa 1755
Modelled standing, she wearing a white cap, a pale yellow mantua trimmed with green at the sleeves, a stomacher with puce rosette and flower sprigged skirts, holding a serving dish with a leg of gammon and the hem of her apron, upon a mound base applied with a flower and leaves and painted with scrollwork, 18cm high (some restoration to edge of mantua and apron and gammon, firing cracks to base and small chips), he wearing a turban, a white shirt, a pale-yellow jacket lined in puce and flowered breeches, holding a dish with two birds and the folds of his gathered apron, upon a mound base, applied with flowers and leaves, 17.5cm high, impressed 'B' to the reverse of the base (restoration to his neck, left arm and apron folds, with firing crack to base, tiny chips) (2)
