Captain Fenton (d.1820), wearing the uniform of the 37th (the North Hampshire) Regiment of Foot, scarlet coatee with yellow facings, silver epaulette and white cross-belt, the belt plate bearing number 37, frilled white cravat and black stock.
Inscribed on reverse May 1 st 1803/ Cork/ Captain/ Fenton 37th Regt./ 27th ***/ 1805/ Obit/ the 8th August/ 1820, gilt-mounted octagonal papier-mâché frame.
