An archaeological revival gold necklace, circa 1870
Designed as a fringe of pendent amphorae, alternating with Roman Republic silver denarii (2nd century BC), each with ropetwist, wirework and beaded decoration, suspended from a chain of ropetwist floral motifs and polished beads, on a woven gold back chain, the clasp set with a smaller coin, accompanied by a pair of pendent earrings of similar design, length 40.8cm., fitted case by Marchesini (2)
