  • Medium line should read: acrylic on masonite. Titled 'Sweet Peas and Owls' in pen and numbered '4351' in pencil on the reverse. Note: In the late 1940's Herbert Bayer was the design consultant for the development of Aspen as a ski resort. While living there he became friendly with fellow Aspen resident actor Gary Cooper who gave him two baby owls as house pets. The owls were soon killed by hunters but Bayer continued to depict them in later works.
