Records Morrell's fifth and sixth voyages, trading and exploring the South Seas including Cape Town, Mauritius, Papua, the Admiralty Islands, Port Jackson, Sydney, Java, the Philippines, Canton, and Singapore. "Jacobs returned to the United States and wrote the present book, which is, apart from the vivid accounts of the islands and ports visited, an early and clear declaration of what was soon to become the U.S. Policy of Manifest Destiny" (Hill p 458).
