Document Signed (“James Monroe”) as President, partially printed and accomplished in manuscript, 1 p, folio, on vellum, Washington, October 14, 1823, granting a Letter of Patent to John Nash for a new and useful improvement in the Plough, also signed by JOHN QUINCY ADAMS as Secretary of State and WILLIAM WIRT as Attorney General, with red wax/white wafer seal, annotated on verso, creased horizontally and vertically, mild spotting, small perforations at left margin.

The notes on the verso describe Nash’s improvements to the plough.
