Period full brown calf, rebacked, spine with red gilt-lettered label, gilt decoration. A few instances of faint spotting, offset from portraits, a brief instance of worming in the margin, light vertical crease to title-page, covers with wear to extremities, head and tail of spine lightly rubbed, lower joint briefly cracked, very good overall.

First edition. Contains numerous interesting articles including the most known, “Tracts of the possibility of approaching the North-Pole,” but also “Whether the Turkey was known before the Discovery of America,” Francisco Antonio Maurelle’s “Journal of a Spanish Voyage in 1775, to explore the Western Coast of N. America,” and “Account of a very remarkable young musician,” which is an account of a performance by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and includes an engraved portrait. Sabin 3628.
