A version of this painting is illustrated in C. Crossman, The decorative arts of the China Trade (Woodbridge, 1991), pl.40. It relates to a set of four similar sized works on brass depicting Whampoa, Jamestown, Capetown and Canton, which are attributed to a follower of Spoilum known as the 'Master of the Fire of 1822'.
