Footnotes

  • PROVENANCE:
With Frost and Reed, London, 1961

The present work may be compared to a group of Venetian vedute that Cimaroli painted, which have close stylistic affinities to the work of Luca Carlevarijs, suggesting that the two artists may have worked together at one time (compare, in particular, a View of the Piazza San Marco, with Franco Semenzato, July 1987, lot 55; and a View of the Molo from the west with the Doge's Palace, with Franco Semenzato, Venice, 13 June, 1993, lot 20)
