[c.May 1820]; Anthony Dopping, Bishop of Meath, and Simon Digby, Bishop of Limerick (joint letter signed to Sir Robert Southwell, Secretary of State "at ye Royall Camp", recommending John Pooley, Dean of Kilkenny: "It being an usuall thing to promote persons of inferior dignity in the Church, into places of more eminent trust & imployment", with calligraphic address leaf and seal, 9 August 1690); Napoleon (cut signature "Bonaparte", Malmaison, 22 Ventose no year); Louis Philippe; George Canning (passport for a traveller to Malta, signed); Lord Sidmouth ("...am fully sensible of the extreme Awkwardness, and Embarrassment of the Situation in which You are placed..."); Captain Basil Hall; Samuel Rogers; Sir Harris Nicolas (about a Nelson letter, see lot 110 in our Nelson & the Royal Navy sale, 5 July 2005), and others, including material from the papers of H.E.
