1965 BSA D7 172cc Super Bantam
Frame no. D743275
Engine no. ED7B17236
By 1965 the long running Bantam was nearing the end of its production run and the Super 172cc model was indeed a far cry from the early 125cc machines of the early 1950s. It was an attractive looking bike with chrome-plated tank panels, dual seat and stylish mudguards and of course the two-stroke engine had a significantly enhanced power output compared with the early models, developing 7.4bhp at 4,750rpm. Handling was also significantly improved and the Bantam continued to find a ready outlet although its market with establishment fleet users had begun to evaporate. This very tidy example is presented in blue livery and appears to be in generally good condition and to original factory specification. The recorded mileage is 5,441 miles although there is no history to confirm this figure. At the time of cataloguing no documents have been located.
