Lot Details
1930/1933 Sunbeam 493cc Model TT90 Racer
Frame no. E8549
Engine no. 7084
Sunbeam’s Model TT90, introduced for the 1929 season, featured a new pattern low frame with saddle petrol tank, adjustable racing foot rests and Sunbeam front forks with adjustable shock absorbers and B&D stabilisers. The two-port, single-cylinder, overhead valve racing engine was fitted with double hairpin valve springs and had dry sump lubrication. A three-speed gearbox was fitted with no kick-starter on the racing model. Standard livery was ‘Sunbeam all-black weatherproof finish’. Although little is known of the history of this machine the Vintage Motor Cycle Club have issued a Statement of Search Certificate suggesting a year of manufacture of 1930, with the engine dating from 1933. As with so many machines that have been actively campaigned this model has modifications from standard factory specification but is smartly presented and with the usual careful checks and recommissioning would be welcome back on the circuits. It is offered without documentation.
