Lot Details
1939 Rudge 250 Sports
Registration no. FKH 861
Frame no. 65275
Engine no. 1941 S2-639-1
The late 1930’s were difficult years for Rudge, their earlier successes in the TT now being eclipsed by history. The 250cc lightweight was introduced for the 1935 season and in 1937 the company was bought by EMI and production moved to Hillingdon. For the 1938 season a 250cc two-valve Sports was introduced, however production ceased in December 1939 when the factory was switched to radar manufacture for the war effort. This machine was first registered in Hull on 25th May 1939 and has remained in the Hull area throughout its life. It is believed that it was last used in 1996 and therefore will benefit from usual careful recommissioning prior to use. It is smartly presented in traditional Rudge black livery with gold lining and tank detail and is equipped with the high exhaust of the Sports model. We are advised that the magneto has been overhauled in recent years and the bike is offered in running order with old style log book and Swansea V5C document.
