Lot Details

Registration no. SVS 955
Frame no. 64740
Engine no. 51/G80 16848
Post-war production of the Matchless G80 began in 1945 and the model remained in production until 1966, being built alongside the sister machine from the Plumstead factory, the AJS Model 18. The power unit was a robust overhead valve engine which developed 23bhp at 5,400rpm and, at just £176-10s-0d in 1951, the G80 was a most affordable sporting machine. This example was rebuilt in 1993 to original factory specification in all major respects and is most smartly presented in black livery. The date has been verified by the Matchless Owners’ Club and recent work includes a magneto overhaul in 2004. Condition is described by its enthusiast owner as good in all respects and the machine is offered with a Swansea registration document.
