Triumph’s Terrier lightweight was joined in 1954 by an enlarged version - the 200cc Tiger Cub - that offered 60mph-plus performance and 100mpg. A big success, particularly with younger riders, the Cub remained in production for the next 16 years. This ‘points-in-the-side’ example was purchased by the vendor at Brooks’ Stafford Sale in April 1998 (Lot 592). The machine had not been licensed for 15 years prior to that time and has covered fewer than 200 miles in the past eight years. Within that time the engine has been re-bored and fitted with new valves, guides and springs; the electrics have been rewired, while other new parts fitted include swinging arm bushes, ignition coil, battery, tyres and an Amal Concentric carburettor. The machine is offered with VMCC dating certificate, sundry invoices, current road fund licence, MoT to April 2007 and Swansea V5.
