[GIBRALTAR.]
Five maps and views of Gibraltar, as follows: Chereau, Jacques. Investissement de la ville et du fort de Gibraltar par l'arme navale Espagnole en 1779. [Paris: c. 1790.] Hand colored bird's eye view of the bombardment of Gibraltar by the Spanish fleet, 270 x 370 mm. A most unusual print in that the title was not inverted on the plate, and thus reads backwards, though the letterpress at lower margin is correctly etched. * Basire, Isaac. Plan of the Town and Fortifications of Gibraltar, Exactly Taken on the Spot in the Year 1738. London: c. 1750. Handcolored bird's eye view, 380 x 570 mm. Separation at upper seam, closed tear to upper right margin, small edge tears. * Bellin, Jacques. Carte de la Baye de Gibraltar Dressee au Depost des Cartes de la Marine pour le Service de Vaisseaux de Roi. Paris: 1762. Hand colored engraved sea chart, 420 x 580 mm. Fine. * Faden, William. Plan of the Bay, Rock and Town of Gibraltar from an Actual Survey by an Officer who was at Gibraltar from 1769 to 1775.... London: 1783. Engraved sea chart, 510 x 720 mm. Light age toning. * Tindal for Rapin. A Correct Chart of the Bay of Biscay, Part of the Western Ocean & Mediterranean Sea; Describing the Coasts of Spain and Portugal.... London: 1789. Engraved map hand colored in outline, 380 x 480 mm. Light age toning, else fine.
