Early half brown calf over marbled boards. Small library blindstamp to title-pages, early marginalia, a few instances of faint spotting, but generally clean, covers with some flaking to joints, extremities rubbed, some small chips from head and tail of spine, a very good set.
Fairly late in his life, Spallanzani traveled to visit Italys active volcanoes: Vesuvius, near Naples, Stromboli and Vulcano on the Eolian Isles, and Etna on the Island of Sicily. He even managed to obtain samples by descending into the crater of Vulcano.
