maker's mark AR with a mullet below flanked by two pellets below, possibly an earlier mark for Francis Archbold, London 1681, fully marked cup, cover stamped with maker's mark only,
the porringer chased with a broad band of acanthus leaves below a girdle of over-lapping stylised leaves, armorial engraved, later engraved with twin crests above and traces of an earlier armorial, scroll handles, raised on a tucked-in foot, base prick dot engraved "28th June 1659" height 19.5cm weight 21oz

  • The body is engraved with a crest in similar style to the prick dot and partially erased crest. The body later engraved with two post 1819 crests and the quartered shield of Crompton-Stansfield of Esholt Hall, near Leeds.
