An early-mid 19th century Calvert style ivory chess set
One side stained red and the opposing side left natural, the kings with two tier everted, pierced 'petal' crowns, the queens with one, the bishops with split, open mitres, the knights as horses' heads, the pawns with spherical finials, all on baluster supports with circular bases, the rooks as castellated turrets, king 7.5cm, pawn 3.5cm.
