A fine set of six Edwardian mahogany Chippendale-style ribbon-back dining chairs, formerly the property of Lady Brougham and Vaux
Each having twin foliate scrolls surmounting the open ribbon splat between S-scroll uprights on a serpentine-fronted hide-covered seat with niche-carved seat rail, raised on foliate scroll-backed cabriole front legs with scroll feet, each chair with paper label printed "This is the property of/LADY BROUGHAM & VAUX/1921".

    Lady Brougham and Vaux, Adora Frances Olga Wells (d.1925), wife of Sir Henry Charles Brougham and Vaux (1836-1927). Married at St Paul's Church, Knightsbridge, 18th April 1882. Sir Henry was Clerk to the House of Lords from 1857 to 1886, and became 3rd Baron Brougham and Vaux in that final year. He was invested as a Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) on October 14th 1905.
