    Note:
    This painting has descended through the family of famed San Francisco mayor and later Governor of California, James 'Sunny Jim' Rolph. According to the research done by the San Francisco Maritime Historical Park, the work depicts two ships which were also owned by 'Sunny Jim', the 1919 ocean-going tug 'Storm King' and the 1888 bark 'Golden Gate'.
