Nine soapstone and hardstone carvings
The first an 18th Century mottled black and gray soapstone box of butterfly shape with carved peony to the top, its exterior walls finely line-incised with delicate scroll bands and a wave pattern serving as the ground to the band of large key frets raised in relief, the interior of the top and floor of the box incised with flower heads and leaf scrolls (chipped); second a 'spinach' jade Buddha's hand citron rising from reticulated branches supporting a phoenix (repaired); third a small mottled brown and off-white nephrite cong with incised horizontal lines around each corner; fourth a pale celadon nephrite bi with raised bosses to one side and geometric bands to the opposite side (chipped); fifth a celadon nephrite study of two felines with portions of the boulder's russet stained skin remaining; sixth a mottled celadon and dark brown nephrite study of a seated ox; seventh a pale celadon and brown nephrite study of a seated hound; eighth a pale russet-stained celadon nephrite study of two cats napping on an artemisia leaf; ninth a black and gray hardstone study of a moth and a cicada resting on a leafy branch.
